A month ago, we launched THE NEXT 40 STARTS WITH YOU, a campaign to raise $40,000 by June 30 in celebration of 40 years of Linden New Art. Today, we are halfway there. But we need your help to cross the line.
As the financial year draws to a close, I'm writing to ask you to make a gift that will directly sustain artists and ensure audiences across our community can continue to experience the best of Australian contemporary art.
Why Linden matters
Since 1986, Linden has backed artists at the moment when support is hardest to find, funding exhibitions, commissioning new work, and giving artists the freedom to take genuine creative risks.
But continuing that work is becoming harder. Government funding alone can no longer sustain the level of support artists and institutions urgently need. The future of brave contemporary art increasingly depends on people who believe it matters enough to protect.
Without meaningful support, Australia risks losing an entire generation of artists, not for lack of talent, but through financial exhaustion. And when artists disappear, so do the ideas, challenges and perspectives that help society see itself differently.
Your donation directly enables Linden to:
- Pay artists fairly for their time, labour and expertise
- Fund exhibitions that might otherwise never be realised
- Commission new work and support prizes that allow artists to experiment, evolve and remain in practice
- Offer free entry to all exhibitions, because we believe everyone deserves access to contemporary art, regardless of their means
- Run workshops for adults and children throughout the year, creating hands-on opportunities to engage with art, artists and ideas.
- Welcome community members who may not otherwise have access to cultural spaces or experiences
- Ensure contemporary art remains accessible, thought-provoking and connected to the broader cultural conversation
