Greetings from Cambodia,
Another grateful family (with a smile) because you care. The family now have a sustainable washroom toilet where there is privacy, safety and dignity.
Although our primary focus is in the area of health and hygiene through clean water and sanitation, we are often confronted with other challenges that need our attention. The compassionate arm of our work in the villages is funded through the Marion Legacy Fund. It is also essential. See the attachment for an update.
Drop me a line, love to hear from you.
Best wishes
Darrel

The Marion Legacy Fund humanitarian focus is still a major aspect of Cambodia Clean Water & Toilet Project work.
Being ‘on the ground’ in the villages, makes us aware of situations, both medically and socially, that we can do something about.
We can’t do everything but we help when and where we can.
The current work involves:
# Monthly food parcels for the 17 remaining widows and elderly that carried over from the 80 families we were supporting during the Covid-19 disaster.
# Assistance for lady who has breast cancer, with her fortnightly trips to Phnom Penh for chemotherapy.

# Physiotherapy for the village man who has lost the use of his arm after an electric shock.
# Appointment with ophthalmologist for lady who is nearly blind.

# Providing mosquito nets to poor families.
# Bringing doctor to village to attend to frail lady.
# Transporting villagers to medical facilities.
# Designing a toilet to accommodate a land mine victim.
# Surgery for the lady who broke her collarbone in a motorbike accident.
# Supporting students to stay at school by providing bicycles, uniforms and books.
# Arranging sponsorship for students to attend university.

Then there are other needs we continually face. The man who has lost his eyesight because of the TB medication he was prescribed, the dehydrated grandma, the man with rheumatoid arthritis, the kids who recently became orphaned, and so on.
It is good that we can show compassion and help.
