JULY IS MATERNAL AND CHILD HEALTH MONTH
Maternal and Child Health is one of Rotary International's Seven Areas of Focus. Rotary designates July as Maternal and Child Health Month, highlighting global efforts to expand access to quality healthcare, immunisations, and prenatal services so mothers and children can survive and thrive.
Rotary clubs implement numerous actionable projects aimed at reducing maternal and infant mortality through Improving Maternal and Child Health on Rotary International.
· Community Training: Rotary builds the capacity of community health workers and supports prenatal care and nutrition education.
· Disease Prevention: Clubs provide vital immunizations and antibiotics to newborns, and support programs like HPV vaccination to prevent cervical cancer.
· Access to Care: Rotary partners with ministries of health to improve screening protocols and establish sustainable local medical services
