Hello Sue and members of the Rotary Club of Port Phillip
I hope you are doing well and staying healthy! I’m excited to share with you my activities from this month. I have been through many activities, and it has been a very amazing experience for me.

Let's start with my study at PUC University first. I just got the results from the PUC for last term and I got an A+ in Business Planning class, an A- in Introduction to Ethics class, and a B+ in Management & Leadership skill class. It's not really a good result and is out of my expectations. It will affect my GPA but I accept it as I have been trying my best already. However, I was enjoying the new term so much. I had learned a lot from the new subject and understood about the operations in the workplace and in the business. My TDSO class was so amazing as well. Our teacher always brings new concepts for us to do as group work. Teacher told us to choose the classic Khmer story and then change it to the modern one based on reality nowadays or we can predict the future. For our team, we chose one of the classic Khmer stories called “Khun Chang, Khun Paen” . The original story is about the love triangle between the three main characters in the classic story. And at the end of the story the woman main character died because she can’t choose between Khun Chang and Khun Paen to become her husband. After, our team had already reviewed the story, then we planned to change it to the modern one by changing the story to a happy ending and the women main character did not die and she chose Khun Paen at the end. Through this both experience at university and English class, I will commit to study hard and improve more in the next term to get a better result.
In addition, I joined CRST Songkran in early April. It was a wonderful memory for all the students in CRST. In Cambodia, Songkran is an important part of Khmer New Year and it is the biggest traditional celebration. It always takes place in the middle of April and Sangkran represents the end of the old year and the beginning to reflect on the past and welcome a new year. During CRST Songkran, we have so many activities such as Cambodia traditional dancing, K-pop, Sing, Rapper, acting, and Cambodia traditional game. In this years, I also volunteer to joined the Cambodia traditional dacing call Trot Dance, it is dance performed during the Khmer New year, where dancer wearing the mask (Represent of the animal and spirits) and perform ritual movement to ward off the bad luck and bring the good thing for the fortune. By the way, I also performed the Bopha Lokey dance as well. It is a classic dance in Cambodia that shows the beauty of the flower in the human world. In this dance the word “Bopha” means the flower, which stands for beauty, softness, and purity. And the word “Lokey” means the earthy or human world. Together, the dance show shows how the beauty of nature like a flower can be seen in people, especially in a gentle and graceful way. After training to dance Trot dance and Bopha Lokey dance, I was very happy with the new experience as it is the first time that I volunteer to dance in front of many people in CRST. At first I was very nervous and afraid that I would forget the dance movement, but I can focus and make it done with my team.  After that, we also enjoyed many Khmer traditional games and delicious food that was cooked by our cook team. Anyway, It was a very wonderful moment for me that I can get a new experience and spend time with CRST students and hopefully we will celebrate this Sangkan in the next year.

Last but not least, I had a holiday during the Khmer New year, and I decided to visit my parents in Mondulkiri Province again.  We are all busy at work and study and we have only twice a year that we can come back home to see them in person. Actually, my hometown is in Batombong Province but my family moved to work in Mondulkiri province. That's why I need to spend a whole day traveling from Siem Reap to Mundolkiri. It's maybe 8 hour and 30 minute by van but I feel so excited to meet them and spend time with them as much as I can during this holiday. First day in Mondulkiri was so amazing, I could see a beautiful sunrise in the morning as my house was near the mountain and I could enjoy the amazing light at night because it had a lot of resorts on top of the mountain. So, the light at night can make it more beautiful and it seems like the magic mushroom. More than this, ethnic minority dancing was very beautiful and attractive. They had shown the culture of ethnic espeally food. They are so kind and a nice neighbour, they always give us some fruit and food when they collect from their farm.

Back to our family, we have prepared a house with a small decoration and a table to welcome the new angel of the year and pray for good luck on the first day as well. After that, we cooked some food to celebrate the Khmer New Year’s such as fried chicken, fish soup, and some snacks as well. Beside this, we plan to have a family trip to Bursa waterfall and have a picnic together for tomorrow.

Finally, during the Khmer New Year festival, I would like to wish you staying healthy, good luck and happiness in your family. Thank you so much for your valuable time reading my email every month. I also attached some pictures of my activities below and I hope you enjoy reading my email.

Best Regards
