Sue Foley led the Bhan Tre Celtic group Sunday 29th May at the Recital Centre
in Melbourne. Bhan Tre were supporting the Victorian Welsh Choir and David
Hobson. David is an Australian tenor and composer and one of our best known
operatic and recording artists.
The Victorian Welsh Choir is into its 43rd year of music making. It is a
traditional Welsh male choir singing in four part harmony and presenting
around twelve concerts a year. The harmonies were outstanding.
Bhan Tre first formed in 1997 and is one of the first female Celtic bands in
Melbourne. They sang a few songs on their own, then with the Welsh Choir
and later with David Hobson and the Welsh Choir. The styles varied but the
first song, 800 Years, gave me goosebumps. Their singing was outstanding.
Congratulations Sue Foley, Geraldine Davis and Rebecca Humphreys. It was a
fabulous concert set in a spectacular venue.
