Our club is sponsoring three students Jenisha, Reina and Khushi to sail the seas on the Enterprise. The 27-metre topsail schooner, Enterprize is a fully operational replica of a tall ship originally constructed in Hobart in 1830 by William Harvey and William Pender and first sailed to mainland Australia (settling in the Yarra River, Melbourne) in 1835. Enterprize is sailed by a crew of volunteers from all walks of life and is managed by the Enterprize Ship Trust on behalf of the people of Victoria. Rotary sponsors young people to be involved in this amazing opportunity.
It is an intensive work and social experience, where trainees are presented with the challenge of acquiring skills needed to operate a Tall Ship, safely, at sea.
The students are provided with:
• All meals and accommodation on board
• STV One and All (South Australia) Voyage Handbook
• Sail handling, navigation & ship husbandry training
• Use of heavy wet weather clothing protection and safety harnesses
• Event shirt
• Achievement Award certificate presented on the deck of ship at end of voyage
