Dear Rotary members of Port Phillip,
A big thank you for your help in collecting electrical wire for the students in Timor -Leste studying electricity, this is a three year full time course.
We have collected over 1300 Linea meters. Gerard made a great contact. Here is a picture of the boxes getting ready to go in two weeks to TL as I am getting my last lot then. The value is over $3500. I am putting the electrical wire in cardboard boxes with the contents on the box, which says "wire" as someone will nick them. They will go via DIK in Altona.
The money they save on this wire will go on other important projects in supporting the 174 students at Maliana Electrical School.

. "I write to say a big thank you to Chris, Maureen, Gerard and you Wendy for the great donation of electrical wire for the students in Timor -Leste. In total I and my donors collected 1100 linear meters of wire. I will send it up to Timor-Leste in the next three weeks. This wire is expensive in TL but it will be well used by the 174 students who do a three year course in electricity. Saving money on wire means that can use money to go ahead to extend the girls domitory as 25 more girls will join the course next year.
As mentioned before TL is the poorest country in South East Asia. The average wage for a person inTL is $12 Australian dollars a day. I will send this wire up via Donations in Kind, I just have to raise $400 to pay for a cubic meter of space on the containers they send to TL I am working on this now. The principal of the Maliana Electrical School was so happy and also says a big thank you on behalf of the students. He said any extra wire would be appreciated as it is a consumable material that they use. I sent Gerard a photo of the students in the workshop. I will send you a picture also .
