Port Phillip children being taken into out of home care will have their very own much needed supplies, a soft toy and love from a collaborative community. A 20 foot container has been fitted out to house backpacks for children from newborns to 18 year olds.  The backpacks contain toiletries, night wear, day wear, undergarments, books, a torch and other essentials for children placed into out of home care.  The backpacks are age and gender appropriate and are shelved in readiness for the police or emergency services to access readily in the newly fitted out container.  The backpacks are the brain child of CEO Sally Beard, a former foster carer who knows only too well the issues faced when a child/ren are suddenly placed in care. Sally founded Backpacks4VicKids, a charity who are seeking donations. Rotary Port Phillip collaborated with Rotary Rowville-Lysterfield to obtain, fit out, paint and place the container in a safe place, which is in the Victorian International Container Terminal. More information is in the Bulletin.
