As Mac Robertson Girls’ High School’s oldest philanthropic club, Interact aims to foster connections both within and beyond the school community, extending to international relations. Saturday the 20th of June saw the Interact girls from MacRobertson Girls’ High School very busy at the Port Melbourne Bunnings BBQ. An early start didn't seem to faze them at all, and the teamwork was absolutely wonderful throughout the day.
The Interact Club co-presidents, Thy and Isabel, organised the Bunnings BBQ in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Port Phillip. The fundraiser supported “For A Meal”, one of the club’s key projects that involves packing relief food sachets for people affected by natural disasters.
Despite the cold winter weather, our volunteers brought warmth and energy to the event, helping to serve up sausages with a side of smiles. From setting up early in the morning to engaging with customers throughout the day, every student involved demonstrated professionalism, teamwork, and heart. The dedicated students arrived bright and early at 8:30!
Using the money raised, students at Mac.Rob will pack the For A Meal food onsite, contributing directly to the effort. This initiative is proudly supported by Port Phillip Rotary, making the team’s hard work even more impactful. As a biochemist, Dr. Doug Hawley designed and formulated the FORaMEAL packs to include a balanced and nutritious blend of carbohydrates, important fats and proteins together with a sachet of essential vitamins and minerals.
97% of every dollar raised for the FORaMEAL project goes into producing, packaging and delivering the meal itself. Everyone on the FORaMEAL project volunteers their time, experience and expertise to this cause. 2.5% of funds raised + GST is paid to Rotary Australia World Community Service Ltd. (RAWCS) for administering the donations. What a worthy cause!
Gerard, Pam, Martin and I were very impressed with the girls who attended. They picked up their duties quickly and their connection with customers was excellent. We’re proud of our students for their commitment, enthusiasm, and initiative.
