🍳 Bron’s Brew
What’s Cooking with Bron This October?
Pull up a chair, pop on your apron and let’s see what’s been cooking at Rotary Port Phillip this month! The ingredients are simple: a generous helping of community spirit, a dash of fun, a sprinkle of new connections and a whole lot of people who know how to get things done. And believe me, our kitchen has been BUSY!
👨🍳 The Head Chef Visits – District Governor Graeme Hope
We warmly welcomed District Governor Graeme Hope and his wife Sue to our Rotary kitchen. Graeme shared his recipe for growing Rotary: invite people to see what we do, give them a great member experience and connect with the next generation. Our Parents Battle of the Bands partnership is certainly helping us get those ingredients just right!
🌭 Sausage Sizzle – Sizzling Along Nicely!
Another sausage sizzle, another little boost to the coffers! A huge thank you to our regular crew Martin, Christine, Brian, Wendy and Ron, with Milla popping past, and the fantastic Mac.Rob Interact girls, who worked brilliantly on the production line. Our sausages were sizzling, the teamwork was first-class and the fundraising keeps rolling in!
🧸 Pedro’s Toy Drive – A Recipe for Generosity
Organised by Milla, Pedro’s Toy Drive collected toys valued at more than $2,000 for children in need in our community. What a beautiful way to celebrate Pedro’s first birthday while spreading joy to other children. One birthday, lots of toys and a whole community sharing the love—now that’s a recipe worth repeating!
❤️ Community Support – The Essential Ingredients
We welcomed Sue Karzis and Susanne Wells from the Port Phillip Community Group, who shared the important work they do supporting local individuals and families through emergency relief, financial counselling and employment pathways. They also launched Five Minutes of Fame, happening on Tuesday 24th at 4.30 pm at St Kilda Town Hall—an open-mic evening promising pure entertainment. Get ready to serve up some talent!
🔙 A Familiar Face Returns to the Kitchen
A warm welcome to our new member John Gradie, an original member of Rotary Melbourne South, who is now back in town and joining our Rotary Port Phillip family. We're enjoying having him at the table and hearing his stories of Rotary from years gone by. Clearly, some recipes—and some Rotarians—stand the test of time!
🎂 Christine has a special birthday – Bring Out the Dessert!
We celebrated Christine’s special birthday ending with a nought in true Rotary style, complete with a Cricketers dessert and candles. Seventy years deserved a suitably sweet celebration—and naturally, we made sure there was room for dessert!
🍰 Until Next Month’s Helping!
October has reminded us that the best things happen when everyone brings something to the table. Whether it’s fundraising, welcoming new members, supporting families or celebrating milestones, our club continues to cook up a storm.
Keep stirring, keep sharing and keep those ideas bubbling away. Together, we're Creating Lasting Impact—one helping at a time!
Until next month, keep your aprons handy!
