President's Message

“Working in harmony with each other, and with external groups and individuals, will improve our impact and help Rotary survive and prosper into the future.”
June is designated Rotary Fellowships Month to recognize the importance of international fellowship and goodwill among Rotarians with similar recreational and vocational interests, promote increased participation in fellowships, and increase understanding of this program.
“Fellowship is wonderful; it illuminates life’s pathway, spreads good cheer, and is worth high price.” Rotary Founder, Paul Harris
What are the benefits for Rotarians in joining the Rotary Fellowships?
Fellowship provides opportunities for Rotarians to make lasting friendships outside their own Club, District or country. Fellowships contribute to the advancement of world understanding and peace. Also, Fellowships serve as an incentive for attracting new members to Rotary and retaining our existing members. Indeed, Rotary Fellowship, together with the Rotarian Action Groups, serve as an effective tool in promoting membership development and should be actively promoted in our Districts.
There are many Fellowships that would be of interest to our members, and they are detailed on http://www.rotary.org/fellowships.
Technology makes fellowship even more accessible so scroll through the various groups to find an interest that you may like to share or create your own. It is truly another wonderful way to share with others.
Hello Sue and member of the Rotary Club of Port Phillip. I hope you are doing well and staying healthy!
I’m very excited to write this email to share with you about my activities this month. I attended a lot of activities in May. It was a good experience and a wonderful memory in my daily life.
The global consortium of Rotary Clubs that includes D9800 Rotary Clubs of Brighton North, Port Phillip, Melbourne Central, Chadstone East Malvern and Balwyn, has had a second Global Grant approved for the Construction of Washroom Toilets in Cambodia. What wonderful news!
Here is an official letter from the Rotary Club of Mooroopna to the Rotary Club of Port Phillip with thanks. We write to confirm that GG2459003 has been approved by RI. Please find, below, a copy of the confirmation email from Nora Beamish-Lannon This will ultimately make $82000 US dollars available to build 129 toilets in the village of Kok Beng in Cambodia. This will complete the village and enable the consortium to look further.
Thank you for the involvement of your Rotary Club with a commitment of $1000US. I can confirm that the contribution has already been paid into the GG account. Looking forward to the possibility of working with you again to make a difference where it counts most."
Port Phillip Rotary is one of Backpacks 4 Vic Kids esteemed VIP Supporters, and an invitation to attend their Annual Giving Day (AGD) was extended for May 10th. Pam Dittmer, Leonard Levy and Wendy Stirling attended the event.
Here is an update for the MacRob Interact Club. We have reached our first significant milestone for the year with the conclusion of our first project, Cards to the Elderly.
Having identified senior loneliness as a rising issue, particularly after the pandemic, our directors chose to try and alleviate this in the community by starting an initiative where Interactees create greeting cards to gift to an aged care, in this case, The Alba just across the road from our school.
The majority of Term 1 saw over 200 Interactees, online and in-person, creating cards and decorating them with positive messages. Students used paper and stationery or designed them online.
Interact Club’s Enriching Visit to Alba Elders Retirement Home
Last Thursday, the Interact Club had the pleasure of conducting their second visit to the Alba Elders Retirement Home, marking a continuation of series of visits. These visits are aimed at fostering connections between generations and offering our students a unique opportunity to learn from the wealth of experience possessed by the residents.
